I love my city and my life literally revolves around (parallel at times) it.This is gonna be my modest attempt to share info about Bombay's people, its places, markets, maidans, institutions, transport systems, politicians, socialites, food and eating habits, sports, business, underworld, fashion and life. I shall also post Stock market tips, News and Rumours which I normally get from my many friends and sources.

Running the country with 12 problematic alliance partners
Crude Prices at all time high
India has managed to keep inflation low at below 4 % (even though its a bit flawed as India used WPI for calculation), I think the government has done a decent job in the last 3 years.
Now home loan rates and unemployment rate needs to be tackled before we aim at achieving the much talked about 10% Indian (Hindu for right wingers) rate of growth.
What needs to be seen if the government is serious about 9% & 10% investment in Infrastructure and Eduction, if that achieved many other problems would automatically be solved....
I'm sure our PM with his team of smart guys (montek singh, chidambaram, sam pitroda, jairam ramesh, mani shankar aiyar, murli deora etc ) will have better answers..
Hoping for a better India where Congress and BJP will work in tandem towards the Sensex, its investors and the janta janardhan at large.

The point is, ladies and gentlemen, that: Greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right; greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms, greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge — has marked the upward surge of mankind and greed, you mark my words — will not only save Teldar Paper but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA.
Gordon Gekko's famous "Greed is Good" speech to the shareholders of a company he is attempting to take over in the Oliver Stone masterpiece Wall Street.
And yes 2007 is the 20th anniversary of the epic movie on the markets.
Conspiracy Theory : Did the 1987 Black Monday Crash have something to do with movie?
Sequel
On Saturday May 5, 2007, the New York Times reported that a sequel film entitled, Money Never Sleeps, is currently in pre-production. Michael Douglas will reprise his role as Gordon Gekko; however, both Charlie Sheen and Oliver Stone will be absent from the sequel.

Karnataka is the modern day Aaaya ram Gaya ram zone, the state politicians changes colours even before you can say their full name.
I don't know much about Karnataka politics but by friend Harsha thinks that Gowda is like shani to Karnataka state and its developments, I wish he never comes to the center or anywhere near Delhi.
I think Karnataka will do great under Presidents rule, Metro, Airport, Flyovers... this is Bangalore's golden chance :)
Can the president appoint Vijay Mallya as the CM, I'm sure whole of India will like it :)

How come Shiv Sena - VHP dint oppose the Pakistani team's tour to India, Does it have anything to do with Pawar at the helm of affairs?
Why is NDTV not condemning or reporting against the commies in West Bengal, biased reporting or do farmers in Nandigram less important than Muslim victims in Gujarat?
CNN IBN and Rajdeep rooting for Modi, Rajdeep wearing Saffron .. Samjhota, Setting ??

STOKMARK on the BBC Micro
http://www.bbcmicro.net/old-8bs/elecgame/businessgames.htm
We used to play this at home in 1990-93 on the BBC Micro which my uncle had bought for us.
This game, released in 1984 has had a great influence on me and my investment style & love for the world of markets, it still continues to thrill and amaze me.
I still have this Micro computer lying in my house, I don't think its alive any more, will try to revive it like Lazarus.
If you are a BBC Micro/ Spectrum fan then you should download the emulator and relive and play the classic games of the 80's

230 bucks = 1 ticket!!!
But it was truly worth every paisa.. total paisa vasool movie... total entertainment and filmygiri... SRK, Farah and Deepika have done a great job.
SRK has single handed carried most of the movie but Deepika is also damn gorgeous ... I think Aishwarya n Rani n Preity ka ho gaya Chutti.
The movie has a 70's story about a filmy reincarnation, the likes of Karz and filmy stories Bollywood kinda forgot to make after the 80's , neatly done, neatly shot, great retro designs.
Dard-e- disco is by far Shahrukh best ever dance number.
Another main reason for the paisa vasooli is the star ensemble... never seen before in the history of bollywood cinema, some of the stars in the movie.
* Shahrukh Khan
* Deepika Padukone
* Arjun Rampal
* Kirron Kher
* Shreyas Talpade
* Bindu Kamini
* Javed Sheikh
* Amrita Arora
* Malaika Arora
* Shabana Azmi
* Abhishek Bachchan
* Amitabh Bachchan
* Vidya Balan
* Mithun Chakraborty
* Juhi Chawla
* Priyanka Chopra
* Vishal Dadlani
* Bobby Deol
* Ritesh Deshmukh
* Dharmendra
* Lara Dutta
* Sanjay Dutt
* Subhash Ghai
* Govinda
* Jeetendra
* Karan Johar
* Kajol
* Karisma Kapoor
* Rishi Kapoor
* Tusshar Kapoor
* Arbaaz Khan
* Salman Khan
* Zayed Khan
* Akshay Kumar
* Urmila Matondkar
* Dia Mirza
* Dino Morea
* Rani Mukerji
* Amisha Patel
* Rekha
* Hrithik Roshan
* Shilpa Shetty
* Sunil Shetty
* Aftab Shivdasani
And yes dont run away after the movie ends, the credits are also really cool.
Farah Khan really rocks, Tali Bajao for her.
Also in a few weeks you will see an Om, Cross & Crescent Locket in every Tapori's neck.
Like they say ...Picture abhi baaki hai .....

Cast: Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Tarun Arora, Dara Singh, Pawan Malhotra, Kiran Juneja, Divya Seth.
Director: Imtiaz Ali
Total timepass, smooth movie... I wasn't inclined to watch it at first thinking it might be some lovey dovery kareena shahid crap.... but I was proved wrong .
Kareena is amazing, this is by far her best performance.. I dunno about national awards but Box Office and Public awards is sure shot.
Also Shahid has done acha Kaam .. solid dancing, no pakaogiri, decent stuff...
Also nice stuff from Pawan (Hari Nukkadwala) & Teddy (Decent Hotel) who is also the set designer of the movie.
Go have a Dekko...

Contrary to general belief, Haji Mastan Mirza was never an underworld don or even a goon for that matter. He was a smuggler and a shrewd man who rubbed shoulders with the high and mighty of his era. Be it Karim Lala or Vardabhai, Dilip Kumar or Shashi Kapoor, he had friends from the world of politics. .....Nice article by Baljeet Parmar in DNA

After Australia collected an award for team of the year, compere Cyrus Broacha did some great work by referring to the offensive spectators as "idiots" and called on the audience to show their support of the allrounder.
The crowd stood up and applauded Symonds, who looked chuffed to receive such a warm reception following his hostile treatment at Wankhede Stadium.

Xight notes a Gizmodo story that is a few days old but hasn't gotten a lot of play. It seems that Nigeria recently denied Bill Gates a visa to travel there on his recent trip to Africa. The initial denial was "on the premise that they required proof he would not reside in Nigeria indefinitely, causing a strain on social services and a general nuisance for immigration." The comments to the post are worth reading too.
I won’t be surprised if Billu goes after the Nigerian Scamster’s in a big way J

The markets zoomed from 13500 to 18500 in lil over 2 months and most us just stood, waiting, thinking, analyzing, scratching, digging and wondering WTF happened... Did we miss the Reliance Family Boat
Don't we feel silly about ourselves while the Ambani Bros & Airtel Mittal have managed to pull the biggest and fastest and legal (unless am wrong) wealth generation in the Indian History.
Well I guess its no point cribbing or feeling pity on oneself, there will always be opportunities in the Market.
As say they When the Bulls & Bears are playing the market the Lambs get slaughtered
Also look at the lesser mortals who haven't yet experienced the thrill called Sensex, be proud of yourself for being part of one helluva ride from 2500 to 18000!!
Cutting the gyan short, Since my name is not there in today's TOI, NDTV, ET or Mint top Wealth Gainers, I better rush and board my 8:46 Churchgate local and maybe also buy a few Thursday Super Lotto.

With Google SMS mobile messaging service, users can get business listings, movie showtimes and more simply by sending a text message to the shortcode 54664 [5GOOG] from their mobile phones. This service is currently available on the Airtel, Aircel, BPL, BSNL and Reliance networks, and has relevant local data for mobile users in Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
Searching through Google SMS is simple. For example, a user seeking information on pizzerias in Andheri West can text message [pizza andheri west mumbai] to 54664, and a list of pizza restaurants in that area will be delivered to his or her phone within seconds. Google SMS allows for searches by common locality names, and ranks results by proximity to the specified location. The service also saves time by saving a user's location, so they don't have to type their location every time they search.
Check out www.google.co.in/sms
The only bad thing is that Premium SMS rates are applicable on each query and still not on Vodafone :(
