Bulls, Bears & The Lambs

The markets zoomed from 13500 to 18500 in lil over 2 months and most us just stood, waiting, thinking, analyzing, scratching, digging and wondering WTF happened... Did we miss the Reliance Family Boat

Don't we feel silly about ourselves while the Ambani Bros & Airtel Mittal have managed to pull the biggest and fastest and legal (unless am wrong) wealth generation in the Indian History.

Well I guess its no point cribbing or feeling pity on oneself, there will always be opportunities in the Market.

As say they When the Bulls & Bears are playing the market the Lambs get slaughtered

Also look at the lesser mortals who haven't yet experienced the thrill called Sensex, be proud of yourself for being part of one helluva ride from 2500 to 18000!!

Cutting the gyan short, Since my name is not there in today's TOI, NDTV, ET or Mint top Wealth Gainers, I better rush and board my 8:46 Churchgate local and maybe also buy a few Thursday Super Lotto.

With Google SMS mobile messaging service, users can get business listings, movie showtimes and more simply by sending a text message to the shortcode 54664 [5GOOG] from their mobile phones. This service is currently available on the Airtel, Aircel, BPL, BSNL and Reliance networks, and has relevant local data for mobile users in Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai.

 Searching through Google SMS is simple. For example, a user seeking information on pizzerias in Andheri West can text message [pizza andheri west mumbai] to 54664, and a list of pizza restaurants in that area will be delivered to his or her phone within seconds. Google SMS allows for searches by common locality names, and ranks results by proximity to the specified location. The service also saves time by saving a user's location, so they don't have to type their location every time they search.

The Afternoon Saga - Morarka vs Farzana

Here's Farzana's article on the fight between Kamal Morarka the largest shareholder of Afternoon and Farzana (Late Busybee's Wife) the CEO of the publication.

Morarka on the other hand claims Farzana didn't manage the newspaper well, subscriptions are low, not much advertising ad revenue, not much content, Farzana apparently using Afternoon to promote Uppercrust etc etc.

It sad to see such fights in the open, I hope better sense prevails and Afternoon is back on the stands or will Farzana do a Deja Vu like Busybee did from Mid-Day

Loins of Punjab - Strictly Avoid

What's in common between HT, TOI, Mid-Day, Indian Express, NDTV, IANS, CNN-IBN ??

 

Each of these guys must have surely taken some moolah or Black Labels for giving a good rating for Lions of Punjab, The movie is atrociously pakao with super sadela gujju jokes which each one of us laughed when we were in 3rd Standard.

 

The movie is about a silly Desi Idol which is a million times worse than Zee's SaReGaMa Li'il Kids Champ show, Though in the movie Money power fails to prevail but i surely think money power prevailed in promoting and fooling the junta into the Theatre.

 

Well done Manish Acharya for setting a new benchmark for Shady Movies.

 

I would give 1/5.

 

P.s The movie's main star Jameel ( Bokade Events) is a cool guy, I have worked with him at Prithvi Fest in 1997-98

Yahoo Photos is closing for Indian users on October 18, 2007. Though Yahoo is allowing its users to migrate photos to Flickr but there's panga of limited storage space for free account and Indian users can use Flickr only for sharing photographs.

Internet Woes

Its been over a month since I applied for the Reliance Broadband connection at home, The only reply I get every time I call them is "Do Din mein ho jayenga", the Do Din saga has now reach more than 42 days... I intend to call n cancel it if it doesn't come in another Do Din.

 

My local cable internet guy was fine for a while and thanks to the Colony LAN, then Thanks to the monsoon the LAN got screwed up and water started dripping from the LAN throwing my internet connection for a toss for over 2 months before I finally ditched him.

 

 

MTNL has great speeds but getting a connection involves infinite babugiri, paperwork and delays.

 

I wonder why cant some Telco or ISP have a wi-fi hotspots around Bombay.

 

Meanwhile I'm juss waiting for Do Din for my Reliance Broadband..... 

 

What I need ?

An unlimited Internet connection with 128/256 kbps, my budget is around 1k , so if any ISP, Telco or any good Samaritan is reading this please redirect them to me .

 

 

 

The Real reason India won...

Coz I dint watch it,  I'm quite superstitious about it ... Every time I watch a Indo-Pak match , Either India loses wickets quickly or Pakistan scores rapidly.. I was watching the match via the ticker on the News channel, I changed the channel to ESPN only when I heard my neighbor screaming.

Bali - Malaysia Diary

Me and Deepthi visited Bali and Malaysia last week, sharing some snapshots of Bali and Malaysia.

My Views
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia : Great Place, clean, best airport, VFM shopping, truly multi cultural country.
Do visit China Town, The Nightclubs and yes the Petronas Towers and the big malls.

Bali Indonesia : Superb place, it is the world best Island as they say, great friendly people, if you are from India they are bound to ask are you a Hindu and might even flaunt their swastika chain. Clean endless beaches, total party place, great culture and dances.

Do try paragliding, jetskis and laze on the beach and drink Bintang (Indonesia's ultimate Beer), buy cool Bali Masks and paintings and wood crafts and get a tattoo :)
There are live bands and beach parties at almost all hotel and restaurants, the night life is endless at this happy Hippy place where everyone is a millionaire. (1 USD - 9200 Rupiah)
