For those who are ....

... wondering why am not posting so frequently on my blog...

Well there are a few reasons, primarily I've deiced not to post about sad and depressing things around me.

There are tons of not so cool things about this place harsh working conditions for Blue collared workers, Extreme temperature they have to work on,ill-treatment and non payment of their salaries etc etc

80% of the population dreaming and longing to be home but can't do it coz of no other alternative, The freedom and right to do and drink anywhere in our country.

One thing I really like is that during the day someone is a Sales manager or Executive or technician or Foreman or Driver or even CEO but in the evening at the common office accommodation everyone turns into Ramu... Cooking, chopping, washing, cleaning without any qualms or second thought.

Everyone here has the same plan "work, slog, save for 2-3 years.... go back to India, do some business or invest and relax"

Guys who have been in the gulf for long say that "Once one has worked here his body will not be able to adapt to Indian conditions and will try to get back here"

As for me,  I'm confused at the moment and am longing to be in Bombay.

  4. Hi,

It is not an uncommon situation the Desi's find themselves in when outside India, thats true on occasion even in a country like USA albeit to a lesser extent than in the Gulf countries. I can only sympathize with your personal predicament and commend your feelings for the less well off blue collared workers. In USA ofcourse the two classes exist but the distinction between blue and white collared is less stark due to the real respect for manual labor. Just today read online that Indra Nooyi an Indian and a female has become the global CEO of Pepsico. So just hangin there do the best.

    best wishes

  6. hi ! when i arrived here from europe four years ago - it was really really shocking for me to see the big difference in treating humans .my heart was aching when i saw poor labourers walking past a luxury boutiques - excluded from air -conditioned malls on some days and so on. there are poor people in my country as well - but i had never seen before such great split between social classes .
and of course -i do not like it . it is cast- like system here - not the system of universal brotherhood .

  7. I feel your pain. My grand parents and my father worked in kuwait from when they were 18 till their 60s. It is hard....and that is why my parents sent me abroad. They regret having left india, as in the end...you dont end up anywhere. My dad left a good job at hindustan lever in bombay to come to kuwait, and he regrets it. If you are doing well in the middle east....then stay. but if you are not...leave....things will not get better.
