Just saw Dor on DVD, one of the most colourful and Vibrant movie of the year. Amazing cinematography and contrasting locations, from the Dry Sand dunes of Rajasthan to green lush mountains to Himachal Pradesh.
Dor is the story about 2 different women from different places connected by a common incident in Saudi Arabia. Its about a women's quest and journey to seek pardon for the Husband who faces death penalty for the accidental death of his friend. The only way she can save her husband is if the victims wife signs the MAafinama(Pardon petition) as per Saudi Law.
The movie brings out the best in Ayesha Takia, Gul Panag also does a great job and ye Shreyas Talpade who plays a Bahuroopiya finally speaks and he surely does speak and mimic more than needed.
Like every Nagesh Kuknoor film it has good songs by Salim-Sulaiman.The best songs are Yeh Honsla, Imaan Ka Asar, Kesariya Balam
Worth a Dekko 3.5/5
G1. As usual Nagesh Kuknoor saved money by giving himself a role in the movie.
G2. Ayesha Takia has no hot scene so don't get the DVD if your expecting any hot scenes.
G3. During the shooting of the climax Train scene Ayesha Takia trips and falls while running parallel to the train.
G4. Ayesha considers Nagesh Kuknoor as her Brother :)), Poor Nagesh KLPD.
I love my city and my life literally revolves around (parallel at times) it.This is gonna be my modest attempt to share info about Bombay's people, its places, markets, maidans, institutions, transport systems, politicians, socialites, food and eating habits, sports, business, underworld, fashion and life. I shall also post Stock market tips, News and Rumours which I normally get from my many friends and sources.
Arey boss. Solid movie tha.
ReplyDeleteI think Shreyas Talpade's role required him to be that extra talkitive type and he carried it off well.
Ayesha Takia was amazing in her de-glamourous young widow type role.
Gul Panag was surprisingly good. Didn't realise she was good in acting. It would be interesting seeing more of her in some good movies.
hey satya thats a good movie too i loved it.
ReplyDeletehey do something abt the font size dude its quite a task to read.
hemishha
puremeteor : I havent seen perumaklam... Im sure that must be the orginal ispiration for Nagesh :)
ReplyDeleteCNB : malum hai mast movie tha.. Sab item log ko leke ek Art Movie Banana padega... and btw Gul Panag voice has been dubbed by Elahie Hiptoola... Acha hua nahi tho she would have sounded like a Townie arguing in a Virar train.
