Well I beg to differ, Bombay can be harsh, Bombay can be Violent, Bombay has no time for Emotions and Haanji Haanji Suckup funda.
But Bombay is not rude, people will go out of the way to help people.
People don't say thank you, they smile and do it.
Haven't u learnt Actions speak louder than words.
Have you morons forgot July 26, where every jhoppatiwala to the industrialist came out to help.
Bombay has a heart and doesn't need any certificate from any chutball magazine which collects news and pastes on a text book.
Readers digest can go n fcuk itself, I'm canceling my subscription, I don't need some shady mag which wastes tons of paper sending stupid sweepstakes and Gold coin offers.
Whats your take guys/gals? Is Bombay really Rude No.1
Do Write in...
I am also shocked on this report. Mumbai is NOT AT ALL a rude city, however, I find Delhi more rude than Mumbai.
ReplyDeleteI am completely agree that ppl go out of there way to help u.
This is one of the best city to live in India... actually the only city to LIVE in india... i fell in love with Mumbai 7 years ago when i got out of Geetanjali Express at Dadar Station.
ReplyDeleteLong Live Mumbai
mumbai mirror ko kabse akal aa gayi? :-)
ReplyDeletekaise ho sat2 bhai.
Bombay is not rude, it is in your face without the formalities and that's why it is India's best city.
ReplyDeleteYou haven't written about plans for the the Metro Rail project. It was in the news recently.
sudhir : Delhi is the biggest gaali u can give someone today
ReplyDeletedog care info : rito, btw geetanjli is Bombay- Howrah right?
Walrus : I'm fine, how is Dilli treating you ...Tera Shadi hua kya??
Chirayu : yes, Bombay is frank and practical. "Kha Khuja batti Bhuja"
About metro Rail... Well they have taken over 20 years to build 2 tracks between Borivli and Virar and its still not completed... I will believe in the Metro Rail only after this is done :))
Mumbai Rocks.. Man A city that gives you everything and still people shit on it... Now isnt that humility... sala sabko rakha pyar se... Kiso nahi diya gali.. Screw anybody that has to say anything about bombay....The best of the best is here... what can any other city (METRO) give.. Sala south mein jao toh udhar speak only south indian, North Mein jao to north indian.. Sala come to bombay and speak in any language you want... now thats diversity...
ReplyDeletemonu : Bombay mein no one has the times, even for gettng rude. Me also MumbaiKar, or Bombayite :)
ReplyDeleteanon : Bombay is India in a nutshell, with its share of Nuts and pricks.
Preity : U bet, My Dad left home 45 years ago landed in Bombay and the Bombay has got him so hooked he hasnt left ... Bombay is that dope that hooks u immediatly for life.
See I have been reading this for the past three days... and I think its very unfair for any of us who havent travelled to comment on.
ReplyDeleteFirstly, how many of us know the exacting standards or baseline these guys were using? One has to understand that for them maybe the hospitality and warmth might actually be looked upon as invasion of privacy at some level. Foreigners dont like being approached by a hoard of taxi wallah's almost snatching their lulggage. Nor do they appreciate the tight squeeze it is to travel in the trains. I for one can vouch that the rudest people I have seen are on these trains. Sure its a tight squeeze but if one just uses a little bit of one's brains you'll see the rushin and pushin is not required. And then have you tried catching an Auto from Andheri stn to go towards Seepz area? I assure you each morning I spend the better part of 20 mins arguing with those rick guys.
And lets not forget property and its repurcussions. Brokers are by the rudest and the most cunning lot you will meet anywhere. I assure you in my dealing with them in the past 2 months I have yet to see any more scheming or back stabbing lot of men anywhere in the country. And I have travelled a lot in 24 years in this country atleast. The owners of the flat have a problem with almost anything that makes them feel the deal is going the other way. Even if its asking for a duplicate key!! Forget that... I have met people here who have religion bias. Muslims are not invited to stay in the society just because they are muslims... even if they lived their entire lives in Nigeria and came back. They have hassles with being straight on your face and telling you they're not interested in letting their place.
Maybe this place has a soul and maybe it has a spirit that it induces into people that leaves us in awe. Its a city of dreams and what not... but its definately not polite. Sure maybe its not the rudest city in the world. And I am at no liberty to decide that ... but as far as the country goes... this city for me is rudest. With taxi wallahs not caring whether there are women sitting at the back and still continue to abuse the next guy in the most disgusting language. I have tons of incidents which can tell you why this city is rude.
And please dont tell me just because people stop you to help you with your flat tyre or pick up something when it drops makes you a polite lot. Thats what Mumbai Mirror tried to depict and I was amazed at how the editor still has a job!! Media ought to be more educated than that.
Sorry 'mumbaikar' this comes out as my rant on your page but I guess many comments here were the last straw. Maybe someday I will compile a list of all my observations on this city... good and bad. Then maybe we can pass a judgement.
I went to Zurich, Geneva and Paris recently..... Can they compete with us on the famous "Mumbai Spirit" - NO!
ReplyDeleteBhawnaon ko samjho... YES Actions speak louder than words
saurabh : I would beg to differ on many of your points, but some of what you said is food for thought and needs to be discussed. Lets meet up over a few drinks.
ReplyDeleteRookie : i think it should be "adhao ko samjo, bhavna gaya tel lagane"
Yeah sure... fly by whenever you want. I just finished one such discussion with another friend of mine - a die hard mumbai lover.
ReplyDeleteMumbai is as you guys say, a city that has no time for formalities, but rude, nopes, not at all. I'm not a Mumbaikar, but a frequent visitor. Have travelled by train, yes even at peak hours and find it crowded and painful, but certainly not rude. Reader's Digest...well, used to be decent mag, now degenerated to having eye-catching and dumbed-down articles, to sell more. Sort of like the Times of India. Not much faith in their research anymore.
ReplyDeleteThe smell of Stinking KHOLIES and the hypocracy of Bollywood is blinding you Mumbaiites to the extent that you claim to be superior to Delhi. Nice try! Ghaaties!
ReplyDeleteone thing i've not understood about these claims against mumbai is half of the indian business
ReplyDeleteis directoly or indirectoly connected to mumbai.
People come here in to with lotta dreams like making money, to be artist, etc,..etc..,
(if u differ, go and spend some time at stations where long distance trains arrive)
They earn their Dal-Chawal, Chapati-Bhaji, Sambhar-Bhath, Masher-Zhol, Dhokla, roti-sabjzi, biryani and all such varients here in mumbai.
But some A$$holes still crib about mumbai being this and that.
Boss this place gives me my roji-roti .. i'll never crib even if it is the rudest...
If you've got problems stay away from the city.
Proud to be Mumbaiite
